Steivan Defilla

Steivan Defilla is based in Beijing and assists Alber & Geiger’s clients with their political and business related issues in China. He served as a Director at the Energy Charter Secretariat in Brussels. Prior to that, he was Senior Energy Advisor at the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and a diplomatic attaché of the Swiss Foreign Ministry. He worked on energy and Middle Eastern issues in the Swiss Federal Office for Foreign Economic Affairs, on the bilateral WTO accessions of Jordan and Oman, on Jordanian debt at the Paris Club and UN sanctions against Libya and Iraq. He also was diplomatic attaché at the Swiss Embassy in Moscow.

Mr. Defilla has experience on a wide variety of trade, economics and energy projects around the globe, for example, compliance of Chinese law with the Energy Charter, trade arrangements in South Caucasus or investements in Armenia. 

He holds a B.Sc. in Economics and a M.Sc. in Statistics from University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland. He also holds a postgraduate degree on energy from the Federal Polytechnic Institute Lausanne.
