Prof. Dr. Rolf Wägenbaur is a former top EU official and a leading EU lawyer. He was Director of the European Commission’s Legal Service. In this function he advised the EU Commissioners and the relevant services of the European Commission an all legal aspects of EU policy initiatives. He also represented the European Commission in its trials before the Court of Justice of the European Union.
During is career in the European Commission, Prof. Wägenbaur covered all policy fields including EU transport policy, competition (state aid, anti-trust, fiscal matters), tax harmonisation, right of establishment, free provision of services, free movement of goods (customs duties and quantitative restrictions), industrial policy, public procurement, steel policy, consumer protection, environment policy, culture and tourism.
He holds a law degree and a PhD and is a Law Professor at the University of Tübingen.
