Carlo Trojan

ctrojanCarlo Trojan was the Ambassador of the European Commission to the WTO, UN, WHO and other International Organizations in Geneva and Secretary General of the European Commission in Brussels.

He was the EU Negotiator in the WTO Trade negotiations (Doha Round). He started his professional career as legal adviser in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food in the Netherlands.

He joined the European Commission in Brussels as Deputy Chief of Staff of Commissioner Lardinois. He then was Counselor at the Dutch Permanent Representation to the EU in Brussels. Carlo Trojan then became Chief of Staff of Frans Andriessen, Vice-President of the European Commission dealing successively with Competition Policy and Agriculture.

Before his nomination to Secretary General Carlo Trojan has been many years Deputy Secretary General representing the Commission in the Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREPER).

Carlo Trojan was for 12 years member of the Dutch Advisory Council on International Affairs dealing with European integration. He was a member of the Dutch Energy Council and Professor of International Trade and European Studies at the Maastricht School for Management.

He has been lecturing for a number of years International Trade Law at the Leyden University.

Carlo Trojan studied Law at the University of Leyden specializing in European and International Law.
