Dr. Bertrand Wägenbaur leads the firm’s CJEU litigation department. He is a leading EU litigator having pleaded more than 350 cases before the EU-courts in Luxembourg. His practice includes European competition matters, internal market, tax harmonization, industrial property rights and anti-fraud, covering inter alia Free Trade Agreements, the ACP-EU Convention of Cotonou and the European Convention on Human Rights. He further regularly litigates before the Administrative Tribunal of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Geneva.
Prior to Alber & Geiger he was a partner of EU law firm Kemmler Rapp Böhlke in Brussels. Dr. Waegenbaur is author of „The Statute and Rules of Procedure of the Court of Justice of the European Union“. He is author of numerous publications in legal journals and co-author of the EU competition law handbook Loewenheim/Meessen/Riesenkampff. He holds a law degree from the University of Bonn, Germany, along with a Master of European Law degree from the University of Northumbria, Newcastle and a Doctorate from Middlesex University, London.
